Get a good night’s sleep before the battle

You know, I read a lot. Like, a lot. And some of the lines or clichés from books are really annoying.

My favorite books are Sci-Fi or Fantasy and the most favorite parts of those is the epic battle. So, the annoying part is showing itself in almost every book.

Before every epic battle, every massive combat fight, no matter the era or the level of civilization’s tech achievement — someone always says to the soldiers: “Okay, go to sleep now. We all need to have a good night’s sleep because tomorrow is the battle!”

…And they fucking go. Aaaand sleep!

Can someone explain me… HOW? Without any doubt. Without procrastination. Without bedtime revenge scrolling — you know, that thing where you’re doom-scrolling reels on your phone thinking, “This is my only me-time today and I need THIS.”

No! They just close their eyes and - boom! - dreaming about honor and destiny for 8 needed hours straight. Meanwhile, I can’t even fall asleep before a regular day of remote work. In my own orthopedic bed with the most expensive pillow. And they don’t wake up at 3:20 a.m. starting to calculate in their head for another hour:

“Is that enough sleep to feel decent for the work day, or should I sleep more? If I sleep for only 40 more minutes, will I feel worse? What if the alarm wakes me at the wrong time and I’ll feel horrible and will be sleepy for the half of the day?”

Then it keeps going:

“I actually feel good now… Should I get out of bed and do something useful? But if I have coffee now, I’ll crash at 9 a.m.—the exact time I need my peak performance and productivity at work. And then I’ll definitely have brain fog at 3 p.m. after lunch and will need afternoon coffee… which I already decided not to drink.”

So tell me - why?! how?!

How were they able to sleep peacefully before the battle of their lives, maybe the last battle ever… and I can’t even sleep without a stress-wake-up before my usual day of remote work?!
