your information security problems will only begin.

Why do I truly believe that banning AI at work will only magnify information security issues?

AI is now everywhere, yet most of its mention in marketing and advertising focuses on advanced machine learning, not true generative AI. This situation causes people to ignore the term “AI” altogether, assuming that we are now simply living with AI. However, the lack of understanding between “non-AI” technologies (like simple database matching and computation), machine learning AI, and generative AI will lead to a situation where people (employees) cannot easily recognize the differences and the unique risks associated with each.

These individuals are more likely to fall victim to social engineering, phishing emails, and fake news. And these individuals could be your employees.

It doesn’t matter how robust your infrastructure security is—it could be impenetrable—if someone willingly hands over the keys to your core systems. That’s why it’s in our best interest to educate employees, helping them understand both the advantages and risks of all types of AI and their applications, both good and bad.
